Artist's Statement

My work stems from a range of different influences such as ornate armour, the sweeping lines of Art Nouveau, and the natural forms of flowers. The pieces are primarily about form and are usually grouped in pairs, offering a sense of balance and partnership. This balance arises from their contrasting colour and form and each piece has a uniqueness that can only arise through hand-building. The pieces are not necessarily conceptual, as I feel that so often we lose sight of simply enjoying something for the way that it makes us feel: a sense of serenity or happiness, or just an inexplicable liking of the form. My work is about pleasing forms in simple colours that share a unique sense of balance.
